Brahmapureeswarar
Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord
Shiva located in Thirupattur near Trichy City in Trichy
District of Tamilnadu. While this is predominantly a Shiva temple, it is very
closely associated with Lord Brahma, and an ancient shrine for Brahma resides
within the temple complex. Presiding Deity is called as Lord Brahmapureeswarar
in the form of Swayambu Lingam and Mother is known as Brahmanayaki / Brahma
Sampath Gowri. Sthala Vriksham is Makizhamaram. Theertham associated with this
temple are Brahma Theertham, Shanmuga Nadhi and Bahula Theertham.
Interestingly,
there are very few temples for Lord Brahma. Of all the temples, Brahmapureeswarar
at Tirupattur is the most important temple for Lord Brahma, as he not only
regained his power of creation and luster (Tejas) but also was
bestowed with the power to change the destiny of people visiting him for
good, depending on individual's capabilities. Yes, it is believed that those
visiting the temple get their destiny changed for good, by the grace of Lord
Brahma (தலையெழுத்தை மாற்றும் ஸ்ரீ பிரம்மா).
Regular
worship of Lord Brahma is conducted here. In modern times, this temple only
became a well-known pilgrimage destination over the last few years, but throngs
of devotees now come to offer worship to Brahma. Mondays and Thursdays are the
most favored days for getting darshan. Thiruppattur as is often called, is
Thiruppidavur. The Temple finds mention in the hymns of the
revered Saivite Saint Sundarar. Tirupattur village has the Jeeva samadhis
of Saints Patanjali and Vyakarapadhar.
